新的一周,校园里的学习故事再次悄然生长。孩子们在数字王国里搭建思维的阶梯,在汉字花园中采撷语言的芬芳;他们学会在合作中倾听,也在每一次“再试一次”中收获勇气。平凡的日子,因为有了这些真实而鲜活的学习瞬间,变得轻盈而明亮。让我们一同走近,细细品味。

A new week unfolds on campus, bringing with it fresh stories of growth. Children build bridges of thinking in the world of numbers, gather the fragrance of language in the garden of words; they learn to listen in collaboration, and gain courage with every “let’s try again.” Ordinary days grow bright and light, filled with these genuine moments of learning. Come along as we pause and cherish them together.

近日,随着”世界如何运作”探究单元接近尾声,Bunny班开展了一场别开生面的”关爱小动物”实践活动。在老师的引导下,孩子们学习了如何为小动物添水喂食、梳理毛发,通过轻柔的抚摸传递温暖,还当起”小小守护者”,陪伴动物朋友散步。亲身体验中,孩子们不仅掌握了科学的饲养方法,更深刻体会到尊重生命与负责关爱的真谛。

Recently, as the “How the World Works” inquiry unit drew to a close, our Bunny class launched a unique “Caring for Small Animals” practical activity. Under the guidance of their teachers, the children learned how to provide water and food for the small animals, groom their fur, convey warmth through gentle strokes, and even took on the role of “little guardians” by accompanying their animal companions on walks. Through hands-on experience, the children not only learned scientific methods of animal care but also gained a deeper understanding of the profound meaning of respecting life and showing responsible care.

为进一步延伸学习,班级还发起了”保护家园,从我做起”环保行动。孩子们了解到随意丢弃垃圾会对动物家园造成伤害,主动参与清理杂物,用实际行动为小动物营造安全洁净的生活环境。此次活动生动诠释了IB学习者培养目标中的”懂得关爱”。孩子们在实践中学习担当,在行动中内化共情,展现出小小世界公民的初步责任担当。

To further extend their learning, the class also initiated an environmental campaign titled “Protecting Our Home, Starting with Me.” The children came to understand how littering can harm animal habitats and actively participated in cleaning up waste, taking practical actions to create a safe and clean living environment for the small animals.This activity vividly embodied the IB learner profile attributes of “Caring”. By practicing responsibility in real-life contexts and internalizing empathy through action, the children demonstrated the preliminary commitment of young global citizens.

Nursery(Butterfly Class)

本周,Butterfly班的孩子们开展了一次情感认知回顾活动。他们重新审视班级的”情绪诱因墙”,共同反思影响情绪的各类因素。

This week, the butterflies took some time to review their understanding of feelings and emotions. They revisited their “feeling-cause wall,” reflecting on the various triggers that influence how they feel.

在集体讨论中,孩子们还分享了帮助管理情绪、提升心理状态的具体方法。这场充满思考的交流让孩子们在畅谈如何调节情绪、呵护心灵的过程中,收获了深刻的感悟。

The group also discussed practical strategies and tools that can help manage emotions and improve well-being. It was a thoughtful session, full of insights, as they shared ideas on how to feel better and take care of their emotional health.

Pandas Try South African Trifle(UOI)

 

本周,Panda班的孩子们探索了一道南非特色甜品——千层酥,这款层次丰富的点心制作过程与品尝体验同样充满乐趣。大家先将海绵蛋糕、新鲜草莓和蓝莓层层叠放,再浇上香浓蛋奶酱,如此重复直至碗中堆满缤纷的色彩。

This week, the pandas explored a South African favorite: trifle, a layered dessert that’s as fun to make as it is to eat. They started by layering sponge cake, fresh strawberries and blueberries, then topped it with rich custard, repeating the process until their bowls were full.

点心时间,孩子们欣喜地品尝着这份美味:清甜的水果、绵软的蛋糕与丝滑的蛋奶酱在口中交织,丰富的口感赢得了所有人的喜爱。难怪千层酥能成为如此受人钟情的甜品!

At snack time, the pandas enjoyed the delightful mix of flavors and textures—sweet fruit, soft cake, and creamy custard. It was a big hit, and it’s easy to see why trifle is such a beloved treat.

Kindergarten(Koala Class)

Koalas Unit 2 Action Video Featuring “Che Che Koolay”(UOI)

 

在准备行动项目的过程中,Koala班的同学们全身心地投入到实践创作中。男孩们用可回收材料制作了一系列乐器,包括吉他、maraca、鼓和铃鼓,而女孩们则设计和制作精美的发带、手镯和项链。

In preparation for the action project, the students of Koala Class devoted themselves to practical creation.  The boys produced an array of musical instruments—including a guitar, maraca, drum, and tambourine—using recyclable materials, while the girls designed and crafted exquisite headbands, bracelets, and necklaces.

在这个视频中,我们才华横溢的学生以鼓舞人心的方式展示了他们的创造力。他们为服装制作了自己的乐器和道具,展示了他们的艺术技能。此外,他们还随着音乐唱歌、跳舞、演奏乐器,展示了他们的才能。

In this video, our talented students showcase their creativity in inspiring ways.  They crafted their own musical instruments and props for their costumes, demonstrating their artistic skills.  Additionally, they exhibited their talents by singing, dancing, and playing their instruments along with the music.

Painting from the Mind’s Eye: Grade 1 Explores Color & Season(Art)

 

我们一年级的艺术家们一直在探索“我们如何表达自己”单元,以一种真正特别的方式“发现我们周围的美”。

Our Grade 1 artists have been exploring our “How We Express Ourselves” unit by “discovering the beauty around us” in a truly special way.

学生们尝试了色彩学家约翰内斯·伊滕的著名练习。他们只用颜料,抽象地描绘了四季。这个挑战?不是描绘一个季节的样子,而是描绘他们心中的感觉。

Tigers have tried a famous exercise by colorist Johannes Itten.  Using only paint, they created abstract representations of the four seasons.  The challenge?  To paint not what a season looks like, but what it feels like in their mind’s eye.

从个人的角度来看,这是一堂美丽的课。我们看到了每个人独特的“解读”世界的方式——一个学生把夏天看作是一片明亮的黄色,另一个学生可能觉得它是一片深沉、平静的绿色。虽然我们发现了共同的线索(许多人在冬天发现了蓝色!),但重点是每个艺术家对颜色的个人情感反应。

It was a beautiful lesson in personal perspective.  We saw how each person uniquely “reads” the world—where one student sees summer as a burst of bright yellow, another might feel it as a deep, calm green.  While we discovered common threads (many found blues for winter!), the emphasis was on each artist’s individual emotional response to color.

As artist Betty Edwards reminds us: “These small paintings are a first step in a long process of self-discovery through color.  As in all artwork, the goal is to find yourself, your style, your expression and your unique sensibility.  This is a first statement.”

这些开场白是多么有力啊!我们为我们的学生感到骄傲,因为他们开始了这一生的艺术表达和反思之旅。

And what powerful first statements these are!  We are so proud of our students as they begin this lifelong journey of artistic expression and reflection.

如何在诗歌中传递意境?除了语言表达,还可以用画笔描绘心中所感!狮子班的孩子们以扇面为纸,用画笔勾勒出他们心中的《江雪》与《敕勒歌》。现在,让我们一同欣赏他们笔下诗意的绽放。

How can the artistic conception described in poetry be conveyed? Beyond verbal expression, one can also use painting to depict what is felt in the heart! The children of the Lion class used the surface of fans as their canvas, sketching their inner visions of “River Snow” and “The Song of Chile” with brushes. Now, let us together appreciate the blossoming of poetic imagery through their artwork.

 

Third and Fourth  Grade(Bear  Class)

本周,Bear班的同学们参与了一次富有教育意义的中国革命史实地考察。参观过程中,学生们通过自主观察展品、研读文献资料的方式收集信息,按照自己的节奏探索历史脉络。大家还运用学校配备的平板电脑拍摄展品照片,为学习过程增添了互动体验。随后,专业讲解员为同学们梳理历史背景、解析重要事件,帮助大家深化对这段革命历程的理解。回到教室后,同学们通过专题讨论与反思活动交流考察心得,进一步巩固了本次实践学习的成果。

This week , the Bears participated in an engaging field trip focused on learning about the Chinese Revolution. During the visit, students had the opportunity to independently gather information by observing exhibits and reading materials, allowing them to explore the topic at their own pace. They were also encouraged to bring their school iPads to capture photos of the exhibits, adding an interactive element to their experience. Afterward, they listened to a knowledgeable guide who provided additional context and explanations, helping to deepen their understanding of the historical events. Upon returning to the classroom, students reflected on the trip through a discussion and a reflective activity, further solidifying their insights from the day

Assessment Week in Eagle Class: A Semester of Hard Work and Dedication(English)

 

随着第一学期的结束,Eagle班正忙着完成所有科目的考试。这一周,学生们都很专注和勤奋,在复习和完成每个学习领域的评估之间平衡他们的时间。

As the first semester comes to a close, Eagle class is busy wrapping up with exams across all subjects.  This week, students have been focused and diligent, balancing their time between reviewing and completing assessments in each area of study.

在英语读写能力方面,考试测试的是一系列技能。学生们先完成听力理解练习,然后是阅读理解部分,挑战他们对不同文本的理解。他们还展示了识别比喻语言的能力,这是本课程的一个重点。此外,学生们还进行了时态转换和使用上下文线索解码具有挑战性的词汇的练习,展示了他们对语言的掌握程度不断提高。

In English Literacy, the exams tested a range of skills.  Students tackled a listening comprehension exercise, followed by a reading comprehension section that challenged their understanding of various texts.  They also demonstrated their ability to identify figurative language, a key focus of the course.  Additionally, students worked on exercises involving tense transformations and using context clues to decode challenging vocabulary, showcasing their growing mastery of language.

 

又一周在专注与欢笑的交织中缓缓落幕。我们始终相信,教育不仅发生在书本里,更藏在孩子亮起的眼眸中、尝试的勇气里、与同伴相视而笑的瞬间。

Another week draws to a close, woven through with moments of focus and joy. We believe deeply that learning lives not only in books, but in the sparkle of a child’s eyes, the courage to try again, and the warmth of shared smiles.
